What is our worship like?

Worship at Norris Hill is designed to draw us together and approach the true and living God on His terms. We recognize that worship in not about us. It is about Him. So we model our approach according to what Isaiah records for us in Isaiah 56:7 "Even them I will bring to My holy mountain, and make them joyful in My house of prayer. Their burnt offerings and their sacrifices will be acceptable on my altar; for my house shall be called a house of prayer for all nations." We come together with a call to praise God in His Majesty and Holiness. And in that praise, we recognize the Mighty Power of God and the working of the Holy Spirit. In recognition of His Glory, we pray together, through word and song, repenting of our sins and petitioning our needs. Then we respond with Creed or a Confession of Faith.

After this, the Word is proclaimed. It is done in such a way that one’s imagination is sparked and the truth is heard. The preaching is designed to teach about God and one’s duty as a follower of Jesus. Through the message, one will recognize the grace provided by Christ’s work. The Bible is taken as God’s revealed Word, which provides everything we need to know for living in this world and the one to come.

After the Word is preached, there is a time of response and dedication through singing. Finally, the group is given a word of departure for service to Christ.

In worship we find community and fellowship spent under guidance of the Holy Spirit. It is a time of praise and personal reflection, listening to God’s truth, and applying it to our lives.

We hope your time with us will provide a life changing experience. If you are not used to going to church, don’t worry about knowing what to do. Norris Hill will cheerfully help you.
